The Speyside Way
The Speyside Way is a walking holiday adventure through one of the loveliest and most unspoilt regions of the British Isles. The path follows Scotland's most scenic river from the beautiful and wave-battered shores of the Moray Firth to Aviemore, beautifully poised in the shadow of the dramatic Cairngorm Mountains. In between, the track passes a beguiling mix of Highland scenery, from ancient Caledonian pine forests, rolling, fertile farmland and heather-clad moors. The walk is bejewelled with Scotland's most beautiful fairytale castle at Ballindalloch, its highest Highland village at Tomintoul, and a string of charming villages mostly set against the backdrop of the beautiful River Spey. This abundant region is home to a rich variety of wildlife from dolphins at Spey Bay to ospreys at Loch Garten. The opportunity to sample Scotland's famous tipple is never too far away, for whisky connoisseurs The Speyside Way boasts some of Scotland's most world famous distilleries including Glenfiddich, Glenlivet, Cardhu and Machallan. The Speyside Way is a truly great walking adventure over terrain suitable for all tastes.
The Rob Roy Way
The Rob Roy Way cuts a scenic swathe through the Southern Highlands of Scotland from picturesque Drymen, standing in the shadow of the mighty Ben Lomond, to the bustling town of Pitlochry. In between, this 76 mile trail passes through a string of charming lochs, rivers and glens, through some of the finest Highland scenery on offer, always with the beautiful and majestic mountains affording spectacular views in the background. The walk follows the tracks and paths used by the famous outlaw Rob Roy in the 17th and 18th century, adding a sense of adventure to this superb walk. The trail exudes Highland history passing the sites of Jacobite uprisings, clan feuds, mysterious and ancient standing stones, forts and stone circles, and abandoned crofting villages in this unspoilt corner of Scotland. The Rob Roy Way also boasts many attractive villages such as Lochearnhead, quaint Killin and sleepy Aberfoyle in the heart of the Trossachs. Follow in the footsteps of Queen Victoria along 'the Queen's Drive' above Loch Tay, one of the countless highlights of this exquisite and rewarding Scottish trails.
